Texas Hold Em Poker Rules

The Texas Hold Em Poker rules are relatively simple to learn, but the game is definitely rather exciting. The game usually begins with the two players, who are the first two players located to the left of the button (dealer) being forced to make a bet. The first player is called a 1st blind, and he must put up ½ a minimum bet, whereas the 2nd blind must bet a full minimum bet.

Following this, all players are given two cards, and these are called their hole cards. There is a tremendous amount of vocabulary involved in playing by the Texas Hold Em poker rules.  The 3rd player to the left of the dealer must now bet. This 3rd player has the option to fold, raise or call. A call is matching the last bet, a fold is to let go of any claim to the pot, a raise is to double the last bet, and a check is basically declaring that you pass. Betting structures will differ in pot limit, no limit and limited forms of poker, thus be quite familiar with what the betting structure is going to be regarding their Texas Hold Em poker rules prior to joining the group.

Once that betting round is over, three cards are dealt face up, called the flop. It is common for the dealer to burn or discard a card prior to the deal each time to prevent cheating or accidentally seeing the top card. At this point players mentally create the best poker hands that they can using their two original cards along with the three that are showing in the flop. Another round of betting takes place, which is always led via the player to the left of the dealer. Then the dealer lays another card next to the three showing. This 4th card is called the turn, and another round of betting happens. When all bets are in, yet another 5th card is laid out, and this is called the river.  Be sure and understand the vocabulary involved in Texas HoldEm poker rules (for beginners), as everyone is going to use these terms throughout the game.

At this point, the players have seven cards with which to make the best poker hands mentally. Once more the betting takes place, and when this is over, all must reveal their best poker hands. The winner, according to the Texas Hold Em poker rules, is the one with the very best poker hand of course, gets the pot!
